Cassidy Spencer did not think she had any real chance of winning when she entered Verizon Wireless’ sweepstakes for a VIP trip to Olivia Rodrigo’s sold-out Daisy Chain Fields festival.

The Columbus, Ohio, resident almost missed the prize entirely.

Spencer was sitting on her living room couch with her husband, watching Netflix, when she received an email stating that she had to claim her prize before another winner was selected.

“The first email went to spam! I started bawling,” Spencer said. “My husband said he thought someone had died.”

Spencer entered the sweepstakes through the Verizon app while trying to get tickets through a Verizon ticket sale.

“I thought, what’s the worst that can happen?” she said.

Verizon launched the sweepstakes after offering customers another opportunity to purchase tickets to the sold-out inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival.

The festival was held Aug. 29 at Great Park in Irvine.

Spencer said her prize included airfare, hotel accommodations, a $400 Uber gift card, merchandise, and the opportunity to meet Rodrigo.

Before meeting the singer, Spencer had her hair and makeup done by Marie Tran and tried to keep one thought in mind.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,” Spencer recalled.

Spencer said she had about five to 10 minutes alone with Rodrigo during a private meet-and-greet.

“Meeting Olivia was truly a moment I will never forget,” Spencer said. “I keep trying to replay the moment to remember how she looked right in front of me.”

The VIP experience extended beyond the festival. Spencer toured Interscope Records headquarters, where she said she saw memorabilia connected to Rodrigo and other artists, including the “Guts” toilet, Lego album covers, a Lady Gaga prop, a room decorated with Eminem lyrics, and a Role Model album track list poster.

Daisy Chain Fields Raised $10 Million in Donations

Spencer also attended a Daisy Chain Fields press conference where, she said, Rodrigo announced $10 million in donations to 10 beneficiaries.

Afterward, Spencer was taken to an Interscope green room and received Daisy Chain Fields merchandise and a bouquet of daisies.

At the festival itself, Spencer said one of her biggest surprises was an appearance by Alanis Morissette.

“Everyone was so stoked for Sarah McLachlan and Stevie Nicks, but Alanis was a complete surprise,” Spencer said.

The festival’s announced lineup included Rodrigo, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage, Bikini Kill, The Breeders, and other performers, with Nicks and McLachlan among the previously announced special guests.

Spencer said Bikini Kill turned her into a fan, while Doechii impressed her after Spencer previously saw her at Lollapalooza in 2025. She had also been waiting for another opportunity to see Roan after a previous performance she planned to attend was canceled.

“Her vocals are 10 times more impressive and powerful in person, and the way she commands the stage is awe-inspiring,” Spencer said of Roan.

Beyond the performances, Spencer pointed to the festival’s activism and community elements, including the Yoko Wish Tree, where attendees displayed wishes for a better world, the environment, and peace.

For anyone tempted to ignore the next sweepstakes that pops up on an app, Spencer has this advice.

“ENTER!” she said. “Like I said earlier, what’s the worst that can happen? Oh, and check your spam!”
