After revealing his COVID-19 diagnosis to GV Wire, Fresno County Supervisor Steve Brandau is offering advice to others about how to avoid the virus.

Brandau says he has no idea where, when, or how he contracted the disease. He adds that he’s been diligently using his mask for months.

Q&A: We’re All Humans

GV Wire℠: “Do you have any final comments that you’d like to say to your constituents and residents in Fresno County and your colleagues?”

Brandau: “Yeah, I really do. Let’s just continue to follow the CDC guidelines to the best of our ability, try and keep your distance from people, wear your mask when and where possible, and then also make sure you wash your hands and try to stay sanitary throughout the day. And these are a few things that we can do. It’s low hanging fruit. Certainly we can do those things and then just be prepared to take care of each other. And I think this serves as a reminder for me and my constituents that we’re all vulnerable, we’re all humans, and anybody can catch this virus. It’s not a stigma. There’s nothing wrong with it. But we need to be there to support each other.”

Q&A: The Beard

GV Wire℠: “I would be remiss if I let you go without asking you about the beard. Are you going to be keeping the beard or you losing the beard?”

Brandau: “You know, that’s not, that’s not a good question, man. I think the beard looks fantastic. No, I’ve been getting a lot of daily complaints about the beard. Three good friends told me today I need to do something about it, get rid of it. And so I thought, you know, I’m just going to try something. And I guess I’m just not good at growing hair, bottom line. And so I’m probably going to be dumping the beard before too long.”
