Clovis Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint on Thursday as part of ongoing efforts to improve roadway safety, according to the department.

The checkpoint was held from 8 p.m. to midnight on eastbound Bullard Avenue between Villa and Minnewawa avenues.

During the operation, 471 vehicles passed through and 301 drivers were checked. Seven drivers were cited for license violations, and no DUI arrests were made.

The department thanked drivers for using sober, designated drivers and said additional checkpoints are planned later this month.

The operation was funded by a grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Grant Program.
