Madera High School has suspended all athletic workouts after a student-athlete tested positive for COVID-19, athletic director John Fernandez said Thursday.
The student, who was not identified, was exposed this month to the coronavirus by a person off campus and away from all school facilities and activities.
Positive Test Reported to School on Wednesday
The exposure and infection occurred when the athletics program was idle from July 18 through Sunday and was reported to school officials Wednesday, Fernandez said.
The high school, following the Madera Unified School District Athletic Department guidance, immediately suspended all scheduled workouts until further notice and notified students and their families.
Fernandez said it’s district procedure to suspend all small pod workouts when a student has been exposed to COVID-19, out of an abundance of caution.
