The driver of a 2011 Nissan pickup truck was pulled over by the Merced California Highway Patrol for tinted windows on Tuesday, the department wrote in a Facebook post.
The CHP officer took note of several factors and hints that led him to suspect the occupant was engaged in narcotics trafficking.
Enter Beny, a CHP K9 officer.
Beny sniffed the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics. The driver gave verbal and written consent to search the vehicle, the CHP said.
The search revealed about 18 pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside a television box.
The suspect was arrested.
“There is no stopping this dog, K9 Beny (and his handler) is amazing!,” the CHP wrote on Facebook.
