Behind the Scenes of the Valley Surfing 'Oasis' Where Epic TV Competition is Filmed

The San Joaquin Valley community of Lemoore might seem a strange place to set a surfing competition. After all, the Kings County burg is 100 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
But there, surrounded by farmland, sits an artificial-wave oasis designed and built by world famous professional surfer Kelly Slater. And this week, the unique and specialized wave generating facility is getting its moment in the sun as home to ABC’s new reality competition program, “The Ultimate Surfer.”
Surfer and photographer Allen J. Schaben was invited to capture exclusive images of the making of show program during production.
