Bank of America reports that it awarded nearly $900,000 in grants to local nonprofits serving Central Valley residents in 2023.

These grants aided nonprofits that address housing, food insecurity, health services, and workforce development.

In addition, local bank employees logged 11,000 volunteer hours of service this last year. Their aid ranged from assisting with food distribution to providing free financial education workshops in English and Spanish as part of the bank’s Better Money Habits program.

“Nonprofits understand the needs and obstacles the greater Fresno region faces, uniquely positioning them to develop solutions and services required to promote economic opportunity,” said Mark Riley, the Fresno-Visalia regional president for Bank of America.

“Bank of America will continue to deploy capital and resources to tackle the barriers embedded within our community and create real impact in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.”

Food Bank Groceries2Go Program

The Central California Food Banks received funding for its Groceeries2Go program. This innovative program allows participants to receive a box of shelf-stable food at 11 satellite locations throughout Fresno and Tulare counties.

Recipients that focus primarily on Fresno County included the Boys and Girls Clubs of Fresno County, which was recently named Bank of America’s 2023 Neighborhood Champion. The youth organization received a $50,000 multi-year grant and leadership training.

The bank also provided grants to Live Again Fresno, the Marjaree Mason Center, Poverello House, Habitat for Humanity, the Fresno State Veterans Program, and the Fresno Philharmonic.

Bank of America funded nonprofits serving Tulare County as well. These recipients include Community Services and Employment Training (CSET), which is using its grant to bolster its youth internship program, and the Visalia Emergency Aid Council, which is using the grant for hunger relief in the area. Grants also went to organizations serving Merced, Madera, and Kings counties.
