Castro, 38, posted bond on bail of $25,000 and was released from the Fresno County Jail at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mendota police said they responded to a domestic violence call at 3:45 a.m. in the 300 block of Blanco Street in Mendota, but Castro had left the residence. They then arrested him after locating his vehicle.

Castro’s first scheduled court date is Feb. 23.

ABC30 reported Monday that, according to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, Castro pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence in 2005.

Re-Elected to City Council in November

Castro won re-election to the Mendota City Council in November by finishing third with 16% of the vote in a field of eight candidates battling for three seats.

He has served on the city council since first winning office in 2014.
