The Central California Blood Center is bringing back its “Pint for Pancakes” campaign for a second year, offering free pancakes to blood donors during the holiday season.

From Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, people who donate blood at a Fresno or Clovis donor center or mobile blood drive will receive a voucher for a free short stack of pancakes at participating Huckleberry’s locations in Fresno and Clovis.

Donors who give at the Visalia donor center or a South Valley mobile blood drive will receive a voucher redeemable at participating Black Bear Diner locations in Hanford, Visalia, Tulare, and Porterville.

The blood center said the promotion is aimed at encouraging donations during the holidays, when donations can decline because of travel, family commitments and other seasonal activities. Hospitals, meanwhile, continue to need a steady supply of blood products.

“We are grateful to Huckleberry’s and Black Bear Diner for helping us make blood donation a little more rewarding this holiday season,” Central California Blood Center President and CEO Christine Hayes said. “Every blood donation has the potential to help patients facing surgery, trauma, cancer treatment and other medical emergencies.”

Huckleberry’s to Host Nov. 12 Blood Drives

Huckleberry’s will host mobile blood drives at its Fresno and Clovis locations Thursday, Nov. 12, beginning at 7 a.m.

People who donate at those mobile drives will receive a voucher for a Huck’s Combo meal, which includes pancakes, eggs and bacon.

“Pint for Pancakes is a fun way to bring our community together around two things we can all appreciate — great food and saving lives,” said Ray Tavakoli, president and CEO of participating Huckleberry’s locations.

Black Bear Diner is also encouraging customers to take part in the campaign.

“A blood donation takes just a small amount of your time but can make an extraordinary difference for someone in need,” said Amy Rose, chief operating officer of participating Black Bear Diner locations. “We are happy to thank donors with a warm stack of pancakes.”

People can find donation locations or make appointments at donateblood.org or by calling (559) 389-5433.
