Tulare County sheriff’s detectives are investigating after skeletal remains were found Tuesday afternoon along Highway 99 in Earlimart.

Deputies were called around 2 p.m. Tuesday to a report of possible human remains near Highway 99 and Washington Avenue, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they found scattered skeletal remains along the embankment of northbound Highway 99, south of Washington Avenue.

The sheriff’s office Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

No information was released about the identity of the person or how long the remains may have been at the location.
