Police are searching for an individual in the area of Highway 190 and Martin Street, the Porterville Police Department said Thursday.

Schools in the area have been placed on secure status as a precaution while officers conduct the search.

Police said there is currently no known threat to the schools.

Authorities did not provide additional information about the individual being sought or what prompted the search.
