Hanford police are investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old boy who was found unresponsive at an apartment Monday morning.

Officers responded at 10:12 a.m. to a home in the 12200 block of West Hanford Armona Road after a report of a child not breathing, police said. When officers and emergency crews arrived, they found the boy unresponsive.

The child was transported to Adventist Health Hanford, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives interviewed the boy’s mother and her live-in boyfriend and served a search warrant at the apartment, seizing items of interest.

Police said they are working with the Kings County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death, which investigators described as suspicious.
