Around 4:15 p.m. on that Wednesday, officers responded near the intersection of Samson and Lee avenues after reports of a gunshot victim.

They found the victim, Markazsa Perry, suffering from a gunshot wound. Perry was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center but died.

Markazsa Perry, 31, was fatally shot Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, on East Sampson Avenue, prompting an ongoing investigation by Fresno police.

Authorities have identified three individuals involved in the shooting as Makhy Joyce, 19, Malik Jordan, 18, and a 17-year-old male.

All three are gang members, and the incident is considered gang-motivated, authorities said.

Joyce and Jordan were booked into the Fresno County Jail on murder charges, while the 17-year-old was taken into the Juvenile Detention Center, police said.
