Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of vandalizing property and striking a vehicle with a metal baseball bat during a confrontation in central Fresno earlier this month.

According to the Fresno Police Department, the incident occurred June 11 between 11:57 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. near Olive and Palm avenues, where the suspect was initially seen vandalizing property.

Police said the suspect later moved to the area of East Olive Avenue and North Ferger Avenue, where a community member confronted him while sitting in a parked vehicle and honking the horn.

Authorities said the suspect yelled expletives at the victim and used a metal baseball bat to strike the vehicle multiple times, causing an estimated $3,000 in damage. The impacts shattered the windshield and damaged the side mirrors, passenger window and front pillar, sending glass shards into the vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene on a skateboard heading south toward John Muir Elementary, with a small white dog reportedly following behind him.
