The Fresno Police Department arrested nine drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday, authorities said in a news release.

Police said drivers facing a first-time DUI charge can expect an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, in addition to a suspended license.

The Fresno Police Department will conduct another DUI enforcement operation on Saturday along with additional DUI patrols and checkpoints throughout the year to enhance roadway safety.
