A police officer’s swift response prevented a potential head-on collision Wednesday night near Olive Avenue and Stadium Road in Madera, the Madera Police Department said in a statement.

An officer was on patrol when he observed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road.

The motorist, identified as Alejandra Dominguez, narrowly avoided colliding with another car before being stopped.

Dominguez showed signs of impairment and provided a breath sample that revealed her blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.

She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

Authorities remind residents of the serious risks posed by drunk driving and urge them to make responsible choices to prevent future tragedies.
