Two Fresno men were arrested Wednesday night following an attempted car break-in at a retail parking lot near Clovis and Herndon avenues, the Clovis Police Department said in a statement.

Michael Lomauhie, 36, and Patrick Lacy, 39, both of Fresno, were arrested after community members alerted police to suspicious activity just before 8:30 p.m., officers said.

Two customers called 911 to report the men allegedly attempting to break into a vehicle.

While patrol officers responded, an undercover detective in the area — part of the department’s increased holiday patrols — spotted the suspects driving away.

Coordinating with dispatchers who monitored the city’s camera network, officers pulled the men over nearby.

No vehicle burglary victim was found, but Lomauhie and Lacy were arrested on other charges.

Lomauhie was booked on an active warrant, while Lacy faced four warrants, possession of burglary tools, and weapons charges, authorities said.

Their car was towed, and both were booked into Fresno County Jail.
