Madera police arrested two men on suspicion of driving under the influence overnight in separate incidents, including one involving narcotics and another in which a driver’s blood alcohol concentration was nearly twice the legal limit.

David Cruz, 58, was arrested in the 500 block of North Granada Drive on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics, the Madera Police Department said.

During the investigation, police said Cruz was also found in possession of a usable quantity of methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia.

In a separate incident, Abel Luna, 38, was arrested after police said he was observed driving recklessly in the area of Howard Road near Fairview Street.

Police said Luna was driving under the influence and had a blood alcohol concentration nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08%.

Both men were booked into the Madera County Jail without incident.

The department reminded drivers that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts everyone on the road at risk and urged people not to drive impaired.
