A Fresno man has been charged with murder and child endangerment after authorities say he shot and killed his former partner at her home in Clovis, the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday in a news release.

Tavion Keyon Tapscott, 21, is accused of fatally shooting Breaja Barbara Jones, also 21, during an argument on Saturday.
According to the DA’s Office, Tapscott went to Jones’ residence to collect his belongings when the altercation escalated.
Tapscott and Jones were previously in a dating relationship and share a child.

Tapscott, who was on probation for an April 2024 domestic violence conviction involving Jones, faces one count of murder and one count of child abuse.
Prosecutors have also added a firearms enhancement for the alleged use of a gun during the shooting.
If convicted on all charges, Tapscott would face up to 87 years to life in prison, according to the DA’s Office.

He is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court.
Tapscott turned himself in the night of the homicide to Clovis police and remains in custody at Fresno County Jail.
