A federal grand jury has indicted a Jamaican citizen who worked as a seasonal chef in Yosemite National Park on charges that he sexually abused a 19-year-old co-worker in July, federal prosecutors said Friday.

Danavon Caine, 36, was charged with two counts of sexual abuse, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California.

Court documents allege Caine sexually abused the woman during the late evening of July 17 while he was working in Yosemite on a seasonal H-2B visa. The woman reported the alleged assault to a neighbor and a friend that night and to law enforcement the following day, prosecutors said.

Caine was arrested July 31 and has been ordered detained pending trial.

The National Park Service investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Calvin Lee and Eric Catto are prosecuting it.

Caine could face up to life in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
