Beatles, Stones, or Queen? Tribute Bands and Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade Top the Weekend

The month ahead will be filled with top acts entertaining the Valley like Brooks & Dunn, Smokey Robinson, George Lopez, Andrew Schulz, and Martina McBride.

But the accent this weekend is on tribute bands performing the hits of legendary artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Queen.

And, the Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival celebrates 34 years on Saturday with events in the Tower District and at Fresno City College.

Live Music at Engelmann Cellars: The Killer Dueling Pianos

Engelmann Cellars is bringing The Killer Dueling Pianos on Friday. Having performed over 5,000 shows since 1997, Ryan Bueter and the group have entertained at NFL, NBA , and PGA events. They play classic rock and pop songs while inviting audience participation.

It figures to be a great evening under the stars with live music, wine, beer, frosĆ©, food trucks, and lots of dancing. It’s an outdoor event so bring a folding chair, blanket, and a wine glass. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Vineyard Park.

The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones

The two greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time face off Friday at Tower Theatre. It’ll start you up and your weekend off right.

On one side representing the Fab Four is Abbey Road, one of the country’s top Beatles tribute bands. They play beloved songs spanning the Beatles’ career.

On the other side is the premier Stones tribute band Satisfaction–The International Rolling Stones Show. They offer a faithful rendition of the music and style of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and the bad boys of the British Invasion.

Who’ll win? You can’t go wrong with either one. No matter the who victor is, you’ll leave the show with plenty of satisfaction.

ApCal Rock’n Ranch

One of the top Queen tribute bands is coming to ApCal Rock’n Ranch on Saturday.

Kings of Queen are from Southern California, and they do an amazing job of emulating the band. The lead singer’s stage presence and wardrobe brings the spirit of Freddie Mercury to life. Their playlist includes “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock,” “We Are The Champions,” and other classics.

Kicking off the night will be Overdrive, a band serving up classic rock and metal.

There’ll be beer, dancing, and cigars along with gourmet food trucks. Be sure to bring a lawn chair.

Fresno Rainbow Pride

The Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival is back and ready to kick off Pride Month on Saturday. This year’s theme is Rainbow Wave-Navigating Through The Current. Fresno Rainbow Pride is the largest LGBTQIA event in the Central Valley and the third largest in California. This year they’ve extended the festival hours.

The free parade takes place in the Tower District, from Palm Avenue to Maroa Avenue, starting at 10 a.m. You’ll see more than 100 floats from local organizations and businesses.

After the parade, the festivities will be at Fresno City College Campus. A $5 admission gives you access to over 200 vendors, 40 food trucks, a kids area, entertainment stage, a beer garden and more.

Hot Fudge Sundae 5K Run & Walk

This Sunday at Woodward Park you can run a 5k or walk 2 miles and earn a hot fudge sundae. All participants will receive an ice cream sundae, event shirt, custom finisher’s medallion, and free downloadable pictures of you and your hot fudge sundae creation.

They’ll have every topping you can imagine. There’s going to be music and fun awards like a $50 gift card.

The charity partner for the run is St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The 5k is a 10-point Cal Classic Runner of the Year Series race.

Perreando Worldwide Presents Frikitona Fresno this Friday at Club Encore. Get ready to party. Appearing will be DJs Ukeim, the face of Meta’s Hispanic Heritage Month campaign; Fresno’s very own Hazy J; and up-and-comer, Hispanic heartthrob Jules. It’ll be hosted by Sam Dizzy. There’ll be drinks specials all night and it’s a 21 and plus event.

The 2024 Cal USA Kids Freestyle State Wrestling Championship, Friday-Sunday

California USA Wrestling offers events in Women’s and Men’s Freestyle, Greco-Roman, Folkstyle, Grappling, and Beach. All ages will be wrestling. The tournament will take place this weekend at Selland Arena.

Fresno Philharmonic: BolƩro Blowout, Saturday-Sunday

George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” and Maurice Ravel’s “BolĆ©ro” will be performed along with Samuel Barber’s “Piano Concerto” by pianist Joyce Yang. The conductor is Rei Hotoda. The concert takes place at the Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall.

Slice of Comedy Headlining Danny Minch & Friends, Saturday

Danny Minch hosts these comedic events every weekend at DiCicco’s in Old Town Clovis. This time he’s headlining. His credits include performing at the Hollywood Improv (also as host), Brea Improv, Icehouse in Pasadena, Ha Ha Cafe, Comedy Store, Mad House in San Diego, Punchline Sacramento, and Mateel Theater in Humbolt. He’s opened for Brad Garrett, Jim Jeffries, Bob Zany, Henry Phillips, and Kabir Singh.

Valley Crime Stoppers June Jam Yellowstone, Saturday

Valley Crime Stoppers is hosting their annual ā€œJune Jamā€ fundraiser Saturday. It’s going to be a Yellowstone-themed event, referencing the television show, and it’ll attract over 1,000 attendees in support of their mission to deter, reduce, and solve crime. There’ll be live and silent auctions, live music and catered food. It takes place at Bluff Pointe Golf Course, 8225 N. Milburn Ave., Fresno.
