Elon Musk has reclaimed his position as the world’s wealthiest individual, according to Forbes’ 39th annual World’s Billionaires list. The tech mogul’s net worth soared by 75% to an estimated $342 billion, making him the first person to surpass the $300 billion mark.

It’s another record-breaking year for the world’s richest people, despite financial uncertainty for many and geopolitical tensions on the rise.” — Chase Peterson-Withorn, Forbes senior editor for wealth

Forbes’ 2025 list features a record-breaking 3,028 billionaires, collectively worth $16.1 trillion. The surge in wealth has led to 15 individuals now boasting 12-figure fortunes, up from 14 last year and none in 2017.

Top Five Billionaires Revealed

Mark Zuckerberg secured the second spot with $216 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos at $215 billion. Larry Ellison and Bernard Arnault rounded out the top five with $192 billion and $178 billion, respectively.

President Donald Trump more than doubled his net worth to $5.1 billion, benefiting from his shares in Trump Media & Technology Group and cryptocurrency ventures.

“It’s another record-breaking year for the world’s richest people, despite financial uncertainty for many and geopolitical tensions on the rise,” says Chase Peterson-Withorn, Forbes Senior Editor, Wealth.

The U.S. leads with 902 billionaires, followed by China with 450 and India with 205. The list welcomed 288 newcomers, including musician Bruce Springsteen, Chipotle founder Steve Ells, and Scale AI cofounder Alexandr Wang, the youngest self-made billionaire at 28.

Forbes’ coverage includes features on Musk’s political influence, the crypto billionaire who aided the Trumps, and how Truth Social and cryptocurrency helped Trump double his fortune in a year.
