PGA HOPE, now underway at Fresno’s Riverside Golf Course, is designed to introduce golf to veterans and active duty military members to support their social, emotional, and physical well being.
Henry Howell was at the first clinic this week, enjoying the game for the first time.
“I want to learn the game so I can play with my friends,” said Howell.
Through the years, PGA HOPE has served thousands of veterans and service members across the U.S. at more than 300 locations.
This introductory program is designed to welcome those of all ages, branches and eras of service, genders, and abilities to the golf course and share in camaraderie and fun together as a group. During the seven weeks of sessions, players learn the basics from grip to playing nine holes of golf from PGA and LPGA Professionals.
‘It’s a Blessing’
No golf equipment is required. If you do have clubs and/or any specialty equipment, please bring them.
No VA disability rating required, and veterans do not have to have combat or deployments to participate.
All expenses associated with PGA HOPE are covered.
“It’s a blessing,” says clinic participant Gerard Sauceda.
