All 54 Fresno County vote centers are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters. More Than 135,000 Fresno County Ballots Already Cast
Tuesday’s in-person voting comes after a late surge in ballot returns across Fresno County.
As of Monday evening, 135,566 ballots out of nearly 530,000 issued had been cast, representing roughly 26% of the county’s electorate.
The total has increased rapidly during the final days of the election. Fresno County reported 121,460 ballots returned through Sunday, up from fewer than 79,000 a week earlier.
Separate ballot-tracking data provided Monday showed 133,308 returned ballots. Of those, Democrats accounted for 54,872, Republicans 52,921, and no-party-preference and other voters 25,515.
Republicans had returned about 31% of ballots mailed to them, compared with 28% among Democrats, and 16% among no-party-preference and other voters.
Democrats represented about 41% of returned ballots in that tracker, Republicans 40%, and other voters 19%.
Within the city of Fresno, the tracker showed 65,637 of 275,618 ballots returned, or about 24%. Democrats accounted for 30,227 returned ballots, Republicans 22,079, and other voters 13,331.
Statewide, the tracker showed more than 6.48 million of 23.2 million ballots returned, or about 28%, heading into Election Day.
Can I Still Register to Vote?
Yes, you can.
California voters who missed the Oct. 19 registration deadline can use conditional, or same-day, voter registration through Election Day at their county elections office or an in-person voting location.
Fresno County voters can also obtain a replacement ballot and vote in person at a vote center. All active registered voters were mailed a vote-by-mail ballot for the election.
What About Mailing a Ballot?
Vote-by-mail ballots can still be mailed Tuesday, but they must be postmarked by Election Day. Fresno County lists Nov. 10 as the final day to receive qualifying vote-by-mail ballots postmarked no later than Nov. 3.
Voters who still have their ballots can instead take them directly to any official county drop box or vote center before 8 p.m.
When Will Fresno County Results Come Out?
The first Fresno County election results will be released after polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday with more results coming throughout election night.
Those results will not represent every ballot cast in the election. Ballots returned closer to Election Day will continue to be verified and counted after Tuesday.
Fresno County Clerk and Registrar of Voters James Kus previously told GV Wire that ballots returned earlier could be processed before Election Day, allowing more of them to appear in the first results released Tuesday night. California election officials can process vote-by-mail ballots before Election Day but cannot release results until polls close.
