The Clovis community loves its high school and youth sports.
And Clovis Unified School District’s new football stadium appears to reflect that passion and interest.
Part of the $600 million Terry P. Bradley Educational Center complex, Clovis South High’s new football stadium will be unveiled Friday evening with the inaugural game to follow between the Longhorns and Fresno High’s varsity team.
The new stadium features a sunken football field with natural grass, a video scoreboard, concession stands, and locker rooms for both teams.
Stadium seating capacity is 3,686.
Clovis Unified’s Third Football Stadium
“For people who come to the stadium, you’ll notice how visually different it is from other high school stadiums,” said Clovis Unified Chief Communication Officer Kelly Avants.
The new facility becomes Clovis Unified’s third football stadium, along with Lamonica Stadium on the Clovis High campus and Veterans Memorial Stadium on the Buchanan complex.
The Clovis South Stadium is expected to alleviate some of the football scheduling issues that have caused schools to play on Thursday nights at times, rather than the traditional Friday nights.
Clovis Unified has six high schools (Buchanan, Clovis, Clovis East, Clovis North, Clovis South, Clovis West).
Campus Details
Clovis South, which opened in August 2025, currently is home to students in the ninth and 10th grades. A new grade level will be added each year until its completion in 2028.
Construction is still underway on other parts of the campus, including a much anticipated state-of-the-art events center that’s part of the final phase of construction. That events center will be a multi-purpose facility with the ability to host multiple basketball and volleyball games.
In addition, construction is ongoing with Clovis South’s competition gym, which is located just beyond the new football stadium.
The TBEC campus, located at East Clinton and North Highland avenues, will include an elementary school in the future.
When completed, the TBEC will become the district’s largest campus at 170 acres — 5 acres bigger than the Buchanan campus.
Honoring Bradley
A special pre-game celebration to commemorate the historic event will be held prior to the game.
Bill Bradley — son of the late former CUSD superintendent and facility namesake Terry Bradley — will be the honorary captain for the night and take part in the pre-game coin toss.
Students from Clovis South and Sanchez Intermediate (also located on the TBEC campus), as well as those from the six elementary schools that feed into the new complex will join in the festivities.
Terry Bradley died a month before the campus opened.
“It’s going to be a momentous night,” Clovis South Principal Sonia Torossian said. “I’m going to try my best and not cry through the evening. It means so much to us and to our students. I just wish Dr. Bradley was here to see this all come together.”
