Fresno police arrested a man Tuesday evening after his wife reported that he pushed her into a wall and twice pressed his forearm against her neck during a domestic disturbance, authorities told GV Wire.

Officers responded at about 6:15 p.m. where the victim told police she had been involved in a physical altercation with her husband, Jesus Portillo.

Police said the argument began because Portillo wanted to drive to see friends despite being intoxicated.

The victim was standing in a doorway when Portillo pushed her with both hands, causing her back to strike a nearby wall, police said. Portillo then allegedly pressed his right forearm against her neck.

The victim pushed Portillo away, causing both of them to fall to the ground, according to police. Portillo then got on top of her and again pushed his forearm against her neck.

Police said the victim kicked Portillo in the groin, ending the altercation.

Portillo was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence and booked into the Fresno County Jail.
