The Fish Fire in Kern County has grown to 3,500 acres and is 15% contained as firefighters continue working to strengthen containment lines and mop up hotspots, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
The wildfire is burning north of Caliente Bodfish Road and east of Bena Road near Keene. The fire started Monday and its cause remains under investigation.
Kern County firefighters worked through the night and continue making progress on the fire, officials said Tuesday morning.
Evacuation warnings remain in effect for zones KRN-100 and KRN-455.
Officials said evacuation warnings indicate a potential threat to life or property and advised residents who need additional time to evacuate, as well as those with pets or livestock, to leave now.
