Fresno police arrested a man early Tuesday morning after officers said he was caught on video breaking into Fort Miller Elementary School.

The Fresno Police Department said officers received a call shortly after 1 a.m. regarding a subject breaking into the school.

Dispatchers provided responding officers with a description of the suspect.

Officers located a person matching that description as the suspect fled to the west side of the school campus, police said.

The suspect then ran southbound through an alley and entered a closed garage on the south side of the alley, according to police.

Officers identified themselves and ordered the suspect to exit the garage. The suspect eventually complied and was detained.

Police said the suspect was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
