A planned sale at a Tipton cemetery turned into an armed robbery Saturday afternoon, leading to the arrest of two suspects, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called just after 2 p.m. to the Tipton/Pixley Cemetery in the 13000 block of Avenue 104 for a reported armed robbery. Investigators said the victim had arranged to meet the suspects at the cemetery to sell items, but the suspects allegedly pulled out a gun and stole clothing, a purse and sandals.

Shortly after the robbery, the Sheriff’s Office’s “Tribute 1” aircraft located the suspects’ vehicle in Corcoran. Deputies later arrested a 16-year-old boy and Francisco Guerrero, 22.

Authorities also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the robbery.

Sheriff Mike Boudreaux reminded residents to meet in public locations, such as the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, when buying or selling items with strangers and to avoid isolated areas where they may be more vulnerable to crime.
