Authorities Tranquilize Mountain Lion Following Reports in Hanford Neighborhoods

A mountain lion reported within city limits has been tranquilized by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the city of Hanford reported.

Officials said the Hanford Police Department received numerous reports of a possible mountain lion and worked with state wildlife officials to assess the situation.

Any future sightings of an animal, like the mountain lion, should be reported immediately while maintaining a safe distance.

Residents are advised to go indoors if possible and contact the Hanford Police Department non-emergency line at (559) 585-2540 so information can be relayed to wildlife officials.
