A Modesto man was killed early Friday in a rollover crash after his vehicle left the roadway and struck several boulders before colliding with multiple boats, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 4:57 a.m. near Oakdale Road and Briggsmore Avenue, according to the Modesto Police Department.

Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Briggsmore Avenue when it left the roadway, hit several boulders, and came to rest after crashing into multiple boats.

Firefighters from the Modesto Fire Department responded and extricated the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The adult male Modesto resident was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officers remained at the scene Friday conducting an investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
