A Tuesday night traffic stop for suspected drunken driving led to the arrest of a driver and passenger and the recovery of two loaded firearms, including one that was stolen, according to the Porterville California Highway Patrol.

An officer with the agency pulled over a suspected impaired driver, and both the driver and passenger were taken into custody during the investigation, officials said.

During a search connected to the stop, officers found two loaded firearms concealed beneath the vehicle’s seats. One of the weapons was determined to have been stolen.

The agency said it remains committed to removing impaired drivers from roadways and keeping communities safe.
