Triple-digit temperatures are expected to remain in Fresno through at least the weekend as a Heat Advisory takes effect across much of central California.

The National Weather Service in Hanford forecasts highs of 101 degrees Wednesday, 102 degrees Thursday, 101 degrees Friday, and 100 degrees Saturday. Temperatures are expected to ease slightly beginning Sunday, when the high is forecast near 99 degrees. Similar conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday, with highs near 99.

A Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday through 11 p.m. Saturday for Fresno and surrounding communities.

The weather service said high temperatures could reach up to 105 degrees in portions of the region. Forecasters warned that hot temperatures may cause heat-related illnesses.

Overnight Temps Expected to Provide Relief

Overnight temperatures are expected to provide limited relief, with lows ranging from 67 to 70 degrees through the weekend.

The advisory covers a large portion of central California, including Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Selma, Kingsburg, Hanford, Visalia, Porterville, Bakersfield and other communities.

NWS urges residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on relatives and neighbors during the heat event.
