A Kings County jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the 2020 shooting death of a Corcoran resident, authorities said.
The jury found Eddie Rosas, 38, guilty on May 26 in Kings County Superior Court in the case involving the death of Rudy Mendez, a Corcoran resident, according to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.
In addition to first-degree murder, Rosas was convicted of assault with a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place. Jurors also found true an allegation that Rosas personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, causing Mendez’s death.
The court separately found true that Rosas had a prior strike conviction from 2007.
The case was investigated by the Corcoran Police Department and the Kings County Sheriff’s Office. Senior Deputy District Attorney Joshua Pedersen prosecuted the case.
Rosas is scheduled to be sentenced June 29. He faces a sentence of 75 years to life in state prison, authorities said.
