Officers with California Highway Patrol – Ventura conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 101 and Seaward Avenue for expired registration, according to authorities.

During the stop, officers determined the driver had taken a “creative” approach to the vehicle’s registration tabs, but officials said artistic display does not replace valid registration.

The driver wrote “2026” on a piece of blue tape to mimic the color of a California registration tag.

The vehicle was impounded following the stop.

CHP officials used the incident to remind motorists to keep registration current and ensure vehicles are in compliance before driving.
