Fresno police issued 120 citations during a bicycle and pedestrian safety operation conducted Saturday across the city, authorities said.
The enforcement effort ran from noon to 10 p.m. with officers contacting 114 drivers during the operation, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Police said 108 drivers were cited for violations including driving under the influence, unsafe speed, failing to obey traffic control signs or signals, using a handheld wireless device while driving and running a red light.
An additional 12 pedestrians and cyclists were cited for various code violations.
The Fresno Police Department said it plans to conduct another bicycle and pedestrian safety operation in September during California’s Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month.
Funding for the program was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety via the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
