Crews with the Dinuba Fire Department responded Tuesday to a gas leak at a residence near J and Mariposa streets, officials said.

North J Street was closed between El Monte Way and Mariposa Street as emergency crews worked to mitigate the leak, according to the fire department.

Officials urged residents to avoid the area while crews remained on scene.

The department also reminded the public to call 811 before starting any digging project to have underground utility lines marked.
