Comedian/actress and LGBT+ icon Sandra Bernhard will headline a show kicking off the 2024 Fresno Rainbow Pride Festival next May.

Bernhard, who has been performing for nearly five decades, will host an exclusive performance at the Tower Theatre in Fresno on Saturday, May 11. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 7 at www.towertheatrefresno.com with prices starting at $35.

Proceeds from Bernhard’s performance will benefit Fresno Rainbow Pride Parade and Festival. Fresno Rainbow Pride and Community Link Inc. will announce the 2024 Pride theme at a news conference on Dec. 7 at the theater.

Next year will mark the 34th anniversary for the festival, which is the largest Pride celebration in the Central Valley and will again be at the Fresno City College campus. As in past years, the parade will be in the Tower District.

The festival celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and its allies and features food, music, vendors, and entertainment.

Bernhard’s screen credits include starring in “American Horror Story” and “POSE.” Her most notable film credit was in “The King of Comedy” and won her a Best Supporting Actress award from the National Society of Film Critics. She is a pioneer of the one-woman show and offers a unique and, at times, raucous mix of cabaret, stand-up, rock ‘n’ roll, and social commentary.
