A university in Minnesota is offering online certification programs in cannabis education this fall designed to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the rapidly expanding  industry.

The programs at St. Cloud State University have been developed in collaboration with the California-based cannabis education firm Green Flower.

The certification programs cover four areas: Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture, Cannabis Compliance and Risk Management, Business of Cannabis, and Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine. Each program takes roughly six months to complete, with students allowed to learn at their own pace.

Students in the programs, which begin on Sept. 11, will be tutored by industry pioneers and leading experts, the university said.

The initiative follows Minnesota’s legalization of recreational marijuana use. The state was the 23rd in the nation to do so.
