Fresno City Hall has a heads-up to motorists: Highway 99 will close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the north end of town beginning Monday.
The nightly closure, which is expected to last about two weeks, will enable crews to begin building a bridge over the freeway for Veterans Boulevard.
Traffic will divert to new on and off ramps near the closure. Nighttime commuters should expect delays, city officials said.
The goal of Veterans Boulevard is to connect residents and commuters from west of Highway 99 to the east while easing traffic congestion on Shaw and Herndon Avenues.
The boulevard’s full opening from Shaw to Herndon avenues — including all on and off ramps for Highway 99 — is scheduled for November 2023.
