A longtime Fresno Unified School District employee was arrested Tuesday by Fresno police sexual assault unit detectives on multiple counts of forcible sex with a minor and oral copulation.
Police said Terry McCoy, 43, confessed to the allegations. According to police, McCoy worked for the school district as a noontime aide and also is a group home counselor for troubled teens.
McCoy, who has worked for Fresno Unified since 2004, has been placed on administrative leave, the district said Thursday in a statement.
“The recent arrest of a Fresno Unified employee is extremely disturbing and does not reflect the professional expectations we have for the adults in our system,” the statement said. “The District will support the Fresno Police Department in whatever way necessary as they continue to investigate the matter.”
McCoy reportedly worked at Viking Elementary School.
