The Clovis Unified School District said that the Clovis Police Department concluded their work at Clovis High School. The school has been released from its shelter-in-place order.

The suspicious call to the campus, and similar calls made to multiple schools in neighboring districts, was confirmed to be a hoax.

Students returned to regular instruction and the school will release at its normally scheduled time, the district said. They also confirmed that regularly schedule afterschool activities will continue.

“We recognize that experiences like this impact every student differently and encourage you to check in with your child tonight,” the district said in a statement. “Our student support team is always available and if needed, please reach out to your child’s academic counselor to connect with resources at school.”

The school was placed on a shelter-in-place status while officials worked to determine whether it was safe, police said.

Authorities said additional information would be released as it is confirmed.

The Clovis Unified School District released a statement saying:

“Clovis High School is currently in a Shelter in Place. This is to keep students indoors and limit outside movement around campus while we work with Clovis Police Department to investigate a suspicious call that was made to our school.

“We are also aware that schools in a neighboring district have also received similar calls that are being investigated by local agencies. You can find more details, and news of safety procedures and parents’ roles during such events on our website: https://www.cusd.com/school-safety.

“Parents have been notified of this safety protocol and will be kept informed until its conclusion.

“Clovis Elementary had already released for the school day and students still on campus for afterschool programs will remain indoors until the Shelter in Place is lifted at Clovis High School.”

UPDATE at 2:07 p.m.

Clovis High School is still under shelter-in-place order with students in locations where restrooms are accessible, the district said.

The district said they are aware that the neighboring districts are investigating similar calls.

They said, “Once the work of law enforcement is completed at Clovis High School students will return to normal instruction and we will provide an update to families.”
