Tulare County sheriff’s deputies contacted more than 50 homes Wednesday as part of an operation aimed at verifying registered sex offenders’ compliance ahead of Halloween.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office conducted the countywide 290 Registrant Compliance Detail, known as “Operation Boo.”
Deputies visited registered sex offenders at their homes to verify registration information, including addresses and personal contact information, and to identify everyone living at each residence.
With Halloween approaching, registrants were also reminded of restrictions involving Halloween decorations and advised to keep their homes dark, including turning off porch lights to discourage children from approaching.
More than 50 homes were contacted during the operation, which included assistance from the Dinuba, Woodlake, Exeter, Visalia, and Farmersville police departments.
One person was arrested during the operation on suspicion of being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to the Sheriff’s Office. No additional information about the arrest was provided.
The Sheriff’s Office said it will continue conducting compliance checks to ensure registered offenders are following California registration requirements and applicable restrictions.
