A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of public intoxication and child endangerment after Fresno police responded to a disturbance at a bus stop near Blackstone and El Paso avenues, police told GV Wire.

Fresno Police Department officers assigned to Fresno Area Express responded to the FAX bus stop at about 3 p.m. and contacted Sharelle Stanch, who was with two children, ages 6 and 4, police said.

Officers said Stanch had red, watery eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath. She refused to provide her address and was argumentative with officers, according to police.

Police detained Stanch on suspicion of public intoxication, and officers said she became verbally aggressive and refused to comply with commands.

Stanch was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and child endangerment, police said.

When officers attempted to place her into a patrol vehicle, Stanch refused to enter and kicked an officer, according to police. Officers eventually placed her in the vehicle.

Stanch was transported and booked into the Fresno County Jail.

The two children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, police said.
