Three people were arrested after Visalia police responded to a party call and recovered a loaded, unserialized handgun, authorities said.

Officers responded about 2 a.m. to the 2700 block of South Court Street following a report of a party, according to the Visalia Police Department.

When officers arrived, they encountered several uncooperative individuals. During the investigation, officers contacted Xavier Zavala, 19, who was sitting in a vehicle parked outside.

Police said Zavala reached toward his waistband, where officers spotted what appeared to be a concealed firearm.

When officers ordered Zavala out of the vehicle, he attempted to flee and physically resisted arrest, police said. As a police K-9 approached, officers issued warnings, and Zavala was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers recovered a loaded, unserialized P80 9mm handgun, commonly referred to as a ghost gun, equipped with a high-capacity magazine.

Zavala was booked on charges related to carrying a loaded and concealed firearm, possessing a high-capacity magazine, possessing an unserialized firearm, and resisting arrest.

Two others were arrested during the incident.

Marlyn Zavala, 20, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting or obstructing officers. A 17-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of resisting or obstructing officers, police said.
