A 19-year-old man on probation for robbery was arrested Sunday after Visalia police found him in possession of a loaded handgun and face covering, authorities said.

Officers were patrolling the area of Santa Fe Street and Cypress Avenue about 10:06 a.m. when they contacted Frankie Barrientes, according to the Visalia Police Department.

During the encounter, officers learned Barrientes was on active probation in Tulare County for robbery. Police said he was also found in possession of a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and a face covering.

Officers later searched Barrientes’ residence under the conditions of his probation but found no additional illegal items.

Barrientes was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility on firearm-related charges.
