The Clovis Police Department has been awarded a $79,000 grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to reduce alcohol-related harm and strengthen enforcement efforts in the community.

The funding will support efforts to prevent alcohol sales to minors and obviously intoxicated patrons, illegal alcohol solicitation, and criminal activities involving the sale and possession of illegal drugs.

“This is important to Clovis in order to increase protection for youth and to address crime at problem locations,” Clovis Police Chief Curt Fleming said.

The grant is one of nearly 50 awarded to local law enforcement agencies across California through ABC’s Alcohol Policing Partnership program.

The program combines local law enforcement resources with ABC agents who specialize in alcoholic beverage laws to address alcohol-related problems.
