Democrats are leading in three Republican-held U.S. Senate races, according to new YouGov polls, potentially putting the party closer to reclaiming control of the chamber in the November midterm elections, Newsweek reported.
The polls show Democratic candidates ahead in Texas, Ohio, and Kansas, while Democrats also lead in Michigan and New Hampshire.
In Texas, Democrat James Talarico leads Republican Ken Paxton 50% to 44%, according to a survey of 3,625 likely voters. In Ohio, former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown leads Republican Sen. Jon Husted 49% to 45%.
Republicans currently hold a 53-47 Senate majority. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to take control, making the increasingly competitive races critical to the party’s chances in November.
