The Dome Fire burning in Yosemite National Park has grown to 1,177 acres and remained 0% contained Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

California Interagency Incident Management Team 3 was mobilizing to the fire and was scheduled to take command later Thursday. The National Park Service has jurisdiction over the fire, while CalFire air resources have been assigned to support firefighting operations.

Firefighters battled the blaze Wednesday in a remote area of the park with limited access. Officials said the fire made upslope runs driven by terrain and wind, and short-range spotting was observed.

The fire is burning north of Wawona Dome in Mariposa County. Its cause remained under investigation Thursday.

The fire was reported Tuesday morning about a quarter-mile north of Chilnualna Falls. It had grown to 100 acres by Tuesday, when officials said there were no immediate threats to infrastructure or developed areas.

At the time, the Chilnualna Falls Trail and trails leading from the top of the falls toward Buena Vista and Crescent lakes were closed. The fire grew to approximately 300 acres by Wednesday morning before expanding to 1,177 acres later that day.
