Kern County firefighters battled a mobile home fire in Bodfish that spread into nearby grass and prompted an interagency wildland response, according to the department.

Kern County Fire Department Battalion 7 crews responded to the Kellen Way area, where they found a double-wide mobile home fully involved in flames.

Firefighters began a defensive attack on the structure as the flames spread into surrounding grass. The vegetation fire prompted a full interagency wildland response.

Kern County Fire Department Medic Squad 72, Engines 72, 71, 76, and 78, and Crew 13 responded to the incident. U.S. Forest Service crews from Sequoia National Forest also responded with engines, a water tender and a battalion chief.

The agencies divided their efforts, with Forest Service crews containing the vegetation fire while Kern County firefighters concentrated on the burning mobile home, fire officials said.

The coordinated response prevented the fire from spreading further, the agency reported.
